Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a Chinese term for the practice of developing awareness and ultimately mastery of the flow of energy or life force (Qi in China and Ki in Japan) through the body.  Many traditional arts and practices such as acupuncture, painting and calligraphy inherently required this mastery so historically it formed the basis of all internal arts and therapies.

There are many different styles and forms of Qi Gong most are focussed on co-ordinated breath and movement for mental well-being and do not go beyond this. At Shenyo we teach a form of Qi Gong from the Long Men Pai tradition as taught by Damo Mitchell of Lotus Nei Gong and The Internal Arts Academy.  This system has a deeper connection to the traditional Qi arts focussing on the complete realignment and re-habilitation of the body and mind to enable true skill and flow of Qi. It is a profound system which takes dedicated and repeated practise to progress but it is also transformative in a way that many other Qi Gong styles are not.  We teach, WuJi stance, Wu Xing and Ji Ben Qi Gongs and Dao Yins to open and align the whole system.

We also teach some TaiJi QiGong Shibashi (18 Stance Tai Chi Qi Gong) which is from the health mindfulness schools of Qi Gong.  It is a series of 18 stances combining breath and movement based around moves from the martial art Tai Chi form.  This is a very gentle series which supports general well-being and is easy and safe to practise at home.  It is a lovely, calming and yet energising way to start any day.
